Instead user can choose to register for support and product update information and may choose if they want to receive newslettes and other communications.

By giving the users the option, they can now decide, if and when they wish to identify themselves to TheDevShop. Registration is encouraged because this is the best way to know when program updates are available without manually checking every day. Support policy will change, only users that identify themselves will qualify for support simply because suport is offered via email and it is impossible to render support without a valid email address.
